Most indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange finished Sunday's first day of the trading week with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 998.61, up .44 percent, while the TA 100 rose .45 percent to 1,006.58, including a .48 percent advance to 1,094.66 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The communications and media stocks led the way, jumping 1.63 percent to 476.61, followed by the bank index, which finished the day at 935.53 as the financial institutions advanced .59 percent to 865.74, weighed down by a .11 decline to 992.47 by the insurance issues. The real estate stocks closed at 280.17, down .84 percent, while the Maala organization's social-concern index rose .78 percent to 774.08. The same percentage increase meant an average close of 353.15 for most of the technology issues, while the biomed stocks rose .33 percent to 734.38. The oil and natural gas index closed at 1,149.73, up .39 percent.
