Security forces told Channel 10 News that they were preparing for the impending forced eviction of the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El on July 1st. The Supreme Court ordered that until the real estate controversy can be finalized in court, in the meantime the residents must be evicted and their homes bulldozed. The homes in question are five apartment complexes which have been occupied by 30 families for the past 10 - 12 years. "We are ready for all scenarios," security forces told Channel 10, "we can send in troops and carry out the task."
Two Jordanian Arab cousins are both claiming to be the rightful heirs of the land that they say was given to a relative by the King of Jordan in the 1950s. The residents of the apartments say they legally purchased the land from one of the cousins.
