A surprise inspection at the Holon slaughterhouse revealed a serious violation of halacha (Jewish law), Maariv reports. Sudanese workers were left in charge of treating meat to make it kosher, with nobody on hand to supervise the process as required. The rabbi in charge of the slaughterhouse has reportedly fired the kashrut supervisor on whose watch the incident occurred. Meat that had been out at the time was labeled non-kosher.
