Construction workers paved an area for transit homes near Beit El on Tuesday. The area now contains caravan style trailer homes which Beit El residents believe will be used to house residents of the Ulpana neighborhood if they are evicted. The government is planning to demolish five apartment complexes in the neighborhood. The demolition order came as a result of a Supreme Court case brought on by a Jordanian Arab man who claims the property. The Peace Now organization assisted in the legal proceedings. The land was legally bought and sold to the Jewish residents, but the Arab complainant claimed that his cousin sold the land where as he is the actual rightful heir. The new transit homes are located in an army base just outside the municipal boundaries of Beit El.
