Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest gains at the start of trading on Tuesday. About a quarter of an hour into the session, the TA Composite index stood at 962.01, up .38 percent, while the TA 100 advanced four tenths of a percent to 970.07, including a .39 percent rise to 1,055.62 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the communications and media stocks, which rose nine tenths of a percent to 459.26, followed by the financial institutions, which stood at 825.24, up .62 percent. The insurance index rose .24 percent to 890.52 and the banking component was up .23 percent at 890.42. The real estate issues stood at 271.66, up .38 percent, and most of the technology stocks rose an average of a quarter of a percent to 334.66 while the biomed index declined .23 percent. The oil and natural gas index stood at 1,105.31, up .16 percent.
