The Knesset Oversight Committee plans to examine the behavior of the State Attorney's Office on the Ulpana issue. The discussion, to be held Tuesday, was initiated by National Union Chairman MK Ya'akov Katz (Ketzaleh).
MK Uri Ariel (National Union), chairman of the Committee, said that the State Attorney's acceptance of the High Court's decision and its failure to seek a reversal was unacceptable. Assuming that there was an injustice done to the Arab landowner, he said, “the idea of creating an injustice to repair another one is evil, and indicates a failure in the administration of the State Attorney's office and the government in its dealings with the High Court. All around the world, and in Israel as well, the custom is to compensate landowners in similar situations, and this is backed up by legal decisions in Israel, and especially in Judea and Samaria. This situation has come about because of the negligence of the State Attorney, and I want some answers on why in other cases within Judea and Samaria there was a different law for Arabs,” Ariel said.
