Lobby: State Caused Threat. It Should Authorize

Chairmen Ze'ev Elkin and Aryeh Eldad of the Knesset's Land of Israel lobby demanded, Monday morning, that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu immediately advance a bill, up for a vote in the Knesset on Wednesday, that would give legal sanction to Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria that are currently under threat of uprooting under a Supreme Court order. They cited comments made by Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein, Sunday evening that the only reason for the threat was what the state said to the court.

Referring to the Ulpana neighborhood in the Binyamin region Jewish community of Beit El, the lobby leaders said, "Therefore it [the state -ed.] must enact the authorization bill, both to prevent the destruction of the neighborhood and to change the policy of declarations the state cannot support, and not cause additional damages to additional neighborhoods and communities."
