33 Months, Fine for Arab who Attacked High School Girl

The Haifa District Court sentenced 28-year-old Akram Abu-Mooch of the Israeli-Arab city of Baqa Al-Gharbiya, just outside of Samaria, to 33 months in prison and a 100,000-shekel fine, Sunday, under a plea bargain for attacking and causing bodily harm to high school student Yeshuah Yosephson of Kfar Pines last year. According to the indictment, the girl hitched a ride with Abu-Mooch, and had to jump out of the car in the Pardes Hana-Carcur area to escape, when she realized she was ambushed by a deviant. She was found, unconscious, minutes later, on the road and taken to hospital.

The Samaria Residents' Committee protested the ruling and called it "ridiculous". According to the committee, "We did not expect too much from the legal system, but 33 months for a kidnapping attempt and significant damage to the girl are an insult to the importance of human life."
