The Haifa District Court sentenced 28-year-old Akram Abu-Mooch of the Israeli-Arab city of Baqa Al-Gharbiya, just outside of Samaria, to 33 months in prison and a 100,000-shekel fine, Sunday, under a plea bargain for attacking and causing bodily harm to high school student Yeshuah Yosephson of Kfar Pines last year. According to the indictment, the girl hitched a ride with Abu-Mooch, and had to jump out of the car in the Pardes Hana-Carcur area to escape, when she realized she was ambushed by a deviant. She was found, unconscious, minutes later, on the road and taken to hospital.
The SamariaResidents' Committeeprotestedthe ruling andcalled it"ridiculous".According tothe committee,"We did not expecttoo muchfromthe legal system, but33months for a kidnapping attemptandsignificant damageto the girl are aninsultto the importance ofhuman life."
