When the month of June begins, at midnight Thursday evening, the government-controlled maximum price of a liter of 95 octane gasoline will be NIS 7.43 for self service and 7.59 shekels for full service. The self-service price reflects a reduction of 22 agorot (2.88 percent) per liter from May prices, while the Ministry of Energy cut the charge for full service by five agorot a liter, resulting in a 27 agorot (3.44 percent) reduction.
The ministry attributed the reductions to a drop in crude oil prices. A reduction of 30 agorot a liter had been expected, but five agorot were added to the price because of an increased marketing margin granted the fuel companies. The NIS 2.84 excise tax is expected to be updated in July, upon the expiration of the 15 agorot discount that was applied in April.
