Arab MK Zoabi Again Accused of Violating Israeli Law

The Knesset Ethics Committee imposed a severe reprimand against Member of Knesset Hanin Zoubi of the Balad Party for traveling abroad without approval. The committee said that MK Zoabi went to South Africa in April using external funding. She went without authorization which is required by Israeli law. They said that MK Zoubi submitted approval forms only after returning to Israel. The committee decision stated that this was not the first time that MK Zoabi traveled without permission and ruled the action was a violation of ethics.

MK Zoabi is Israel's first female Arab Knesset member. She has been reprimanded several times in the past for meeting with Hamas members, participating in the flotilla to Gaza, shoving a Knesset usher and other incidents.
