Municipal workers in the southern city of Arad started an open-ended strike, Tuesday morning. The strike includes kindergarden aides, garbage removal, inspectors and the water department.
The Histadrut Labor Federation claims the city is not honoring collective-bargaining agreements and not working according to labor law, which affects workers' rights and representation. Citing a number of activities for which the municipality is not paying, the workers say the city is employing a "divide and conquer" strategy between the rank-and-file and its representatives and ignores the workers' committee's call for negotiations on workers' rights.
