President Shim'on Peres welcomed his German counterpart, Joachim Gauck, to Jerusalem, Tuesday morning and thanked him for good developments in the relations between the two countries. Peres said, "These relations are of fundamental importance and practical at the same time."
Regarding Iran, he said, "The leader of Iran says that religion forbids the building of nuclear weapons, but those who are working in its name are building this kind of threatening weapon. It's horrible for the ears to hear. Iranian leaders deny the Holocaust and are threatening a new Holocaust. There is no place for indifference or disregard. Indifference to horror is the biggest of horrors."
