The United Nations Security Council issued a statement condemning the government of Syria, Sunday evening, for the weekend massacre of at least 116 people and the wounding of 300 others, many of them children, in the village of Houla.

Russia expressed its reservations. Syria's ambassador to the UN denied responsibility, labelling as "lies" statements leading up to the council's resolution.
