Women in Green Warn of Tree Uprooting in Netzer

Women in Green for Israel's Tomorrow said, Friday, that they were informed, Thursday night that the Civil Administration for Judea and Samaria has issued an order for the Israel Defense Forces to uproot all Jewish plantings in Netzer - between the Judean Jewish communities of Alon Shevut and Elazar - sometime after Sunday's Shavuot holiday. In a letter sent to all residents of the Gush Etzion bloc of area Jewish communities on behalf of the organization and the Netzer Core Group, Regional Rabbi Gideon Perl noted that the trees were planted in order to prevent state-owned lands from being taken over by Palestinian Authority Arabs.

The organization is calling on the public to protest to the Civil Administration, as well as to ministers and Knesset members who live in the area, and to take part in further planting, Monday evening, starting at 6:30 at the Netzer pergola. Transportation is available from Jerusalem and other parts of Judea. For more information and registration, call Yehudit Katsover 050-7161818 or Nadia Matar 050-5500834 before Shabbat or after the end of Shavuot.
