    S. Africa University Cancels Israeli Official's Speech

A university in South Africa has canceled a speech by Israel's deputy ambassador. A spokesperson for the Israeli embassy in Pretoria said that anti-Israel extremists have in recent weeks become very active and have threatened Israeli diplomatic staff. The university was apparently threatened as well, the spokesperson said, and decided to cancel the speech. The spokesperson said that it was a shame that the university had been subjected to, and succumbed to, bullying and a denial of freedom of speech.

The cancelation comes in the wake of Israeli criticism of South Africa over its new policy of refusing to label items made in Judea and Samaria as “made in Israel.”
