The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved, Monday, a bill by Likud Knesset members Yariv Levin and Gila Gamliel to raise the age of marriage from 17 to 18. Levin said, "Approval of the lawwill savethousands ofgirls fromforcedmarriages,povertyand violence."
The measure now goes to the Knesset for its first reading.
