Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin will host four elder rabbis of the religious Zionist stream this week at his office, as they try to get Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other ministers to support of two bills to authorize previously unauthorized Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria (Shomron). A bill by Member of Knesset Zevulun Orlev (Bayit Yehudi) and another by Knesset members Ze'ev Elkin (Likud) , Ya'akov Katz (National Union), Yariv Levin (Likud) and David Rotem (Yisrael Beytenu) are scheduled to come up for votes in the Knesset on Wednesday.
A number of ministers are expected to meet Rabbis Chaim Druckman, Zalman Melamed Tzephania Drori and Chaim Steiner, who are expected to explain the need for swift enactment of the measures. They are expected to tell the ministers that communities or neighborhoods are not razed to the ground for bureaucratic reasons, as in the case of Migron or the Ulpana neighborhood in Beit El, where Palestinian Authority Arabs claim the land homes are built on. They will say that Supreme Court decisions dictating the demolition of homes there is a moral injustice that the ministers have a chance to prevent.
