The government held its meeting Sunday morning at Ammunition Hill, in commemoration of Jerusalem Day. Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that the meeting “was to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the liberation and unification of Jerusalem. We come here today as a unified government. We have a great responsibility to develop this city and to bring it into the 21st century, while ensuring that its unique history be preserved.”
Police on Sunday arrested three Jews who attempted to bow down while on a visit to the Temple Mount. The three were part of a group led by MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union). Ben-Ari himself reportedly bowed down as well, but as an MK he has immunity. Police also arrested several Meretz activists, who unfurled a banner on the Jaffa Gate that said that “Meretz will free Jerusalem from its occupation.”
