Suit: Set a Date for Rabbinate Elections

Representatives of religious-Zionist synagogues in Jerusalem have filed suit to the Supreme Court, calling to set a date for elections for the city Rabbinate.

Attorney Ilan Kaminetzky argued that there is no reason, now that the body that selects rabbis has been elected, not to proceed with the elections in the near future. The failure to set a date stems from political considerations, he said, “There are those who oppose the election of a religious-Zionist chief rabbi in Jerusalem.”
