Avnei Chefetz-Area Jews Continue Press for More Roads

Residents of the Samarian (Shomron) Jewish community of Avnei Chefetz and surrounding communities celebrated the 45th anniversary of the liberation of Samaria and Jerusalem by demanding that authorities open and pave an access road to the community which has been blocked for about ten years. The current access road is in a bad state of repair and an increasing amount of Palestinian Authority traffic poses safety as well as security risks.

Ahead of a march from the entrance of the community to the blocked entrance of the road, Chairman Gershon Mesika of the Samaria Regional Council said security personnel in the area supported the paving of the road. Vice chairman Ehud Studenia asked, "If the security situation is so good, why don't they open roads for Jews?"
