Sharp losses were the order of the day, Thursday, as the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed out the week. The TA Composite Index fell 2.12 percent to 979.72, while the TA 100 finished the day at 988.82, down 2.18 percent, including a 1.98 percent drop to 1,081.74 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Worst hit were the communications and media stocks, which dropped 4.19 percent to 486.93, followed by the insurance index, which closed at 944.93, down 3.62 percent, as the financial issues fell 3.18 percent to 845.35, including a 2.99 percent to 919.36 by the bank stocks. The biomed index closed at 738.03, down 2.78 percent, while the rest of the technology issues slumped 2.19 percent to 333.51. The real-estate index finished the day at 270.92, down 2.54 percent, and the oil and natural gas issues fell 2.23 percent to 1,180.27
