The Tzohar rabbinical organization is distributing tens of thousands of copies of a prayer for Jerusalem Day for people to take from synagogues on Shabbat. Sunday will mark the 45th anniversary of the liberation of the Old City and the Temple Mount, during the Six-Day War of 1967.
The material to be distributed is according to the instructions of the Chief Rabbinate and includes songs, psalms and a complete Hallel with a blessing for the morning service on Sunday. In the introduction, Tzohar Chairman, Rabbi David Stav writes, "In our generation, when we merited to see the liberation of Jerusalem and the Temple, we have not succeeded in bringing the good news of Jerusalem to all of Israeli society. A cultural and social barrier has been put up between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and they [the two cities] are demanding connection and mediation. With this page, we seek to further strengthen the connectio of the entire nation to the varieties and intricacies of Jerusalem and its vision."
