Iranian Muslim Seeks Refuge in Israel

An Iranian woman from a Muslim family is seeking refuge in Israel, Maariv reports. The 27-year-old came to Israel illegally 12 years ago with her mother and sister. They continued on to Turkey, while she stayed with a Jewish family and attended a Tel Aviv high school.

The woman is asking a Jerusalem court to require the Ministry of the Interior to give her refugee status. “I’m as Israeli as they come… I’ve grown close to Judaism,” she said. She argued that return to Iran would be a “definite risk to life” for her.
