The Knesset has rejected a proposed bill that would have made attempts at gender segregation in public spaces a criminal act. The bill was put forth by MK Yitzchak Herzog (Labor).
The proposal followed several incidents in which hareidi-religious men ordered women to move to the back of buses in order to create separate seating for men and women.
