The Hiddush organization for “religious freedom and equality” revealed its spending for 2010 to the Justice Ministry this week. The group got NIS 1.5 million in donations, and spent most of that on salaries for its top two employees. Director Uri Regev got NIS 661,579 for the year, while Shachar Ilan got 347,290.
Most funding came from a Jewish man living outside Israel, the group said.
MK Moshe Gafni, who has accused the group of anti-hareidi hate, said, “It’s unbelievable that in the state of Israel, an organization recognized by the Justice Ministry works solely to slander an entire community in Israel, to create hate and division in the nation, and to give such huge salaries to two people who do nothing but bash others and incite against hareidi society.”
