The Knesset’s House Committee has rejected an appeal from MK Amir Peretz (Labor) over the appointment of MK Uri Ariel (Ichud Leumi) to head the State Control Committee. Peretz and other MKs from the Opposition’s left-wing majority had argued that the opposition, not the coalition, should choose the new head.
The rejection means Ariel’s appointment remains in effect.
