Several families expelled from Yamit in Sinai, and then expelled a second time from Gush Katif in 2005, have rebuilt their lives again in a community they have named El Hayam. “We did it ourselves, with the little money we had, without the government’s help,” community member Avi Farhan told Arutz Sheva. “We, fourteen families, bought mobile homes, infrastructure for water and sewage, and we moved in.”

When Israelis were expelled from Yamit the Begin government helped them rebuild, but the Sharon administration – and the Olmert and Netanyahu governments that followed - failed to do the same, Farhan said.
