The State Control Committee discussed the problems faced by informants in a meeting Tuesday. Committee members heard from Attorney Haran Reichman, who said that those who give information to the IDF, Shin Bet or police that prevents terrorism should be given more help than they currently receive.
Those who assist the Shin Bet are given help, but those who help the police are not, Reichman said.
“The state cannot deny its obligation to these people and to their basic rights,” said committee head MK Ronnie Bar-On. He called on the Defense Ministry to deal with the problem immediately.
