2nd Round of Voting in Comptroller Contest

The first round of Knesset voting for a new comptroller ended on Monday afternoon without a final result. As a result, the candidates for the post will participate in a second round.

The candidates include former High Court Judge Eliezer Rivlin, Jerusalem District Court Judge Yosef Shapiro, and Chairman of the National Corporate Comptrollers organization Shlomo Kaldron. Shapiro received 58 votes, Rivlin 44, and Kaldron received 10. There were two abstentions. A total of 61 votes are needed in order for a winner to be declared. The second round of voting will take place on Monday afternoon as well.
