Yisrael Beiteinu said Monday that it was opposed to canceling a law which allows a group of Knesset members to leave their party and start a new one, retaining all their benefits, including the funding due them as candidates. The law, dubbed the “Mofaz law,” was passed at the beginning of the current Knesset, and allowed Shaul Mofaz, along with several Likud MKs, to bolt their home party and join Kadima.

Yisrael Beiteinu said it was opposed to changing the law because it was passed only recently, and it was disrespectful to the law and the Knesset to add laws and then take them away in such a short period of time, especially for political purposes.
