Water and Energy Minister Uzi Landau said, Sunday, that the threatened uprooting of five homes in the Ulpana (religious girls' high school) neighborhood in the Binyamin-region Jewish community of Beit El is the result of a government mistake and the residents of the homes should not have to pay the price.
Landau participated in Friday's ministerial meeting on legislation to save the homes. He told reporters as he entered Sunday's cabinet meeting, "It is unreasonable,unjust andnot normalto demolish housesthat peopleboughtat full price, at the call ofthe government, which even invested inthe infrastructures ofelectricity, water andtransportation to the neighborhood.Therefore,a decent solutionandsane solution must be found,which will keep thefamiliesin their homesand the neighborhoodintact."
