Katzav Appeal for a New Hearing and New Evidence Denied

Justice Esther Hayut of the Supreme Court denied, Sunday, the petition of former president Moshe Katzav for a new hearing and introduction of new evidence against his conviction and seven-year sentence on sexual assault and obstruction of justice charges.

The new evidence consisted of a photograph showing Katzav surrounded by bodyguards during an event for Persian immigrants at the Ramat Gan National Park, after which he was alleged to have raped one of his victims at his office in Tel Aviv. Another photo shows his mother at the same Ramat Gan event.
