The Petach Tikvah District Court will hold a hearing Sunday on a request by the management of the Israeli branch of the Kika department store that all legal action against it be suspended, in order to enable the store to reopen. A report said that workers who have not been paid will ask the court to begin bankruptcy proceedings against the firm, with the intent of forcing the company to sell its assets to pay them back salaries.
The Kika store in Netanya did not open for business Thursday amid reports that the company was broke, and owed tens of millions of shekels to creditors. Workers said they were not paid for April.
