Saudis Begin to Transfer Promised Aid to Egypt

Saudi Arabia transferred a billon dollars to Egypt on Thursday. The money is the first part of a $2.7 billion aid package that the Riyadh government promised Cairo about a year ago.

The move represents an additional improvement in relations between the two countries after the Saudis returned their ambassador to Cairo. He had been recalled a week earlier following demonstrations in Cairo against the arrest of an Egyptian attorney in Saudi Arabia.
