A Congolese Army spokesman announced that the army has not yet decided whether to renew its activities in the eastern part of the country, where a five day ceasefire had been declared. The ceasefire period ended Wednesday night.

The Congolese Army began the efforts for a ceasefire on April 29, after a significant number of soldiers deserted and some of them went as far as announcing the formation of another rebel group.
