Israeli-Arab director Mohammed Bakri may yet face charges for his movie “Jenin, Jenin.” According to recent reports, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein is considering charging Bakri with slander.
Bakri used staged sequences and false testimony for his “documentary” accusing IDF soldiers of deliberately murdering Palestinian Authority Arabs during the Defensive Shield counterterror operation in 2002. It has been argued in Bakri’s defense that he cannot be charged with slander because his accusations targeted a general group, and not a specific soldier.
