Sa'ar Orders Educational Activities to Fight Violence

Following the arrest of 17 youths, including a minor, in connection with a handful of weekend murders, Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar ordered, Monday, that a lesson in grades 5-12 be devoted to the growing level of violence in Israeli society. The staff of the Education Ministry posted educational activities on its website which demand dialogue with educational values on the subject.

The purpose of the dialogue is to allow students to share their thoughts and feelings on the incidents and to transmit clear messages on the sanctity of life. Those messages include condemnation of violent and out-of-control behavior, heavy drinking and intolerance. Another goal is to stimulate discussion about taking a moral stand on restraint and anger management, as well as what teens can do to prevent recurrence of such events in their environment.
