Barak Law: Civilian Service for those Exempt from IDF

Under the guidance of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, the Defense Ministry submitted to the government, Sunday, a memorandum of a bill that includes an alternative to the Tal Law, which currently provides military deferments to yeshiva students of draft age and incentives to join the labor force.

The measure, initiated by Barak, calls for a draftee who is exempted from serving in the Israel Defense Forces to do a year of civilian service.
