The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed the trading week, Thursday, with modest gains in mixed trading. The TA Composite index rose .51 percent to 1,056.17, while the TA 100 finished the day at 1,067.47, up .55 percent, including a .78 percent rise to 1,167.67 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the oil and natural gas stocks, which rose 2.39 percent to 1,228.85, followed by the bank index, which closed at 1,019.71, up 1.32 percent, as the financial institutions rose 1.05 percent to 938.45, including an advance of .49 percent to 1,056.06 by the insurance issues. While most of the technology index rose .84 percent to 344.04, the biomed issues slumped 1.38 percent to 789.84. The real estate stocks finished the day at 291.49, down .37 percent and the communications/media index declined half a percent to 630.40.
