      Monk's "The Scream" Sold for Record Sum

      Edward Munch's (1863-1944) iconic painting, "The Scream", one of the most recognizable paintings in the world, was sold at a public auction in New York for 120 million dollars, the most ever paid for an auctioned painting.

      The profits from the sale, which took place at Sotheby's New York branch, will go towards the building of a museum, art center and hotel in his native Norway.
