Chairman Moshe Gafni of the Knesset Finance Committee ordered a one-week delay, Monday, on a vote to change taxation for imported cigarettes and tobacco products. The delay followed a heated debate regarding court orders surrounding the changes.
Gafni called on the Treasury and the Tax Authority to reach a compromise with the Airports Authority, duty-free franchise holder James Richardson and tobacco producers and importers, who stand to be harmed by the changes.
