      Tel Aviv Stocks Off to Positive Start


      The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange showed modest gains at the start of trading on Monday. About ten minutes into the session, the TA Composite index stood at 1,058.25, up .27 percent, while the TA 100 rose .29 percent to 1,069.35, including a .22 percent rise to 1,167.40 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.

      Leading the way were the communications and media stocks at 639.17, up .96 percent, followed by the insurance index, which advanced .67 percent to 1,073.41, as the financial institutions stood at 941.54, up. 38 percent, including a .11 rise to 1,016.27 by the bank issues. The real estate stocks stood at 296.63, up .63 percent and most of the technology index rose .28 percent to 341.29, while the biomed issues stood at 304.07, up .18 percent. The oil and natural gas stocks rose .05 percent to 1,251.53.
