Attorney Ya'akov Rubin, who represented Rabbi Mordechai Elon in his recently opened trial on charges of indecent behavior, passed away Sunday at the age of 76. Following his passing, the trial is expected to be delayed for a number of weeks.
Rubin was considered one of Israel's premier lawyers, considered a leader in the field of legal precedents regarding evidence. He was president of the bar association between 1987 and 1991. Rubin is survived by his wife, four children and 13 grandchildren. His funeral was scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Har Hamenuchot in Jerusalem.
