Currency: Major Gains for Yen, Pound, Aussie Dollar


The official value of the shekel declined, Friday, by an average of .241 percent against most of the currencies featured on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.757, up .187 percent, while the Euro rose .077 percent to 4.9596 shekels.

The biggest gainer on the day was the Japanese yen, with 100 yen being fixed at NIS 4.6642, up .959 percent, followed by the pound sterling, which rose .841 to 6.0824 shekels. The Australian dollar was set at NIS 3.905, up .725 percent, while its Canadian counterpart rose .41 percent to 3.8177 shekels and ten Lebanese pounds were fixed at NIS .025, up .402 percent.
