David and Achikam Memorial Trek to End Friday

A Memorial Day-Independence Day hike in memory of slain hikers Achikam Amichai and David Rubin is scheduled to conclude, Friday, at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, according to the Tatzpit news agency. The off-duty soldiers were murdered by terrorists while hiking, about four years ago, in the Hevron area.

Hundreds of hikers take part in weekly walks organized by friends of Achikam and David in their memory. About 200 secular, religious Zionist and hareidi-religious hikers started out on the 65-kilometer/40-mile walk at the Meitar checkpoint in the southern Hevron Hills and made their way to Jerusalem and a Judean farm, where they held a memorial for Asher and Yehonatan Palmer, who were murdered by Arab stonethrowers last September.
