President Shim'on Peres said, Thursday evening that President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria is "the worst of the worst, a war criminal".

Interviewed by Channel 2 television about the violence that Al-Assad is perpetuating against opponents to his regime, Peres expressed respect for anti-government demonstrators, explaining, "It takes a lot of courage to do this. It's extraordinary."
