Steinitz: Gas Deal Cancellation Dangerous Precedent

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz reacted, Sunday evening, to Egypt's announcement that it is cancelling its natural gas deal with Israel by saying he was worried from a political and economic point of view.

He explained, "This is a dangerous precedent that clouds the peace agreements and the atmosphere of peace between Egypt and Israel. We must now make an increased effort - a double effort for an early flow of Israeli gas from April 2013 to the year 2012 and to resolve all bureaucratic obstacles to strengthen our energy independence and make electricity less expensive for the market and citizens alike."
