Several hundred people attended the funeral of 19-year-old Yehosha Hafetz on Thursday. Hafetz, who was known to his family and friends as Shuki, collapsed and died Wednesday while trying out for an elite IDF unit.
“Everyone who knew you fell under your spell, I would tell you that it was Shuki’s magic,” his sister Amalia said at the funeral. “You were the best gift I ever got. I love you.”
Yehosha originally took a non-combat position so that he could be home frequently to care for his father, who was seriously ill. After his father died he applied for a new unit.
