United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slammed Russia on Tuesday for its inaction on violence in Syria. Russia has refused to join United Nations initiatives to pressure Syrian President Bashar Assad to stop attacking political opponents, or at least to allow humanitarian access to the country.
Russia’s refusal to take action “is keeping Assad in power, well-armed, able to ignore the demands of his own people, the region and the world,” she accused.
