Bnei Menashe of India Bake Matzah for First Time

The Bnei Menashe Jewish community of India has baked matzah for the first time. The community previous received shipments of matzah from the Shavei Israel organization for the Passover holdiay. "According to the Shavei Israel organization, which had been supplying the matzah, "the Bnei Menashe are descendants of one of the 10 Lost Tribes of Israel. 7,000 Bnei Menashe live in northeast India and Myanmar; 1,700 have immigrated to Israel with the assistance of Shavei Israel."

The matzah baking took place under the supervision of Shavei Israel representatives Talya Lhungdim and Rukhama Neihsel. Many members of the Bnei Menaseh community live in israel.
